We are a tech training program that uses video game design, development, DevOps and mixed media to create diverse talent, train youth for the tech ecosystem and prepare them for college, career and civic life. 

Gameheads: Hawaii programming is in agreement with Nā Hopena A‘o or HĀ, the six outcomes to be strengthened in every student over the course of their K-12 (and beyond) learning journey as defined by the Department of Education, State of Hawaii:

The Program Coordinator must be knowledgeable in education and youth development for low income and Native Hawaiian youth, with specific experience in supporting youth development. The Program Coordinator must live in Hawaii and the coordinator position will have a specific focus in supporting students ages 15-25 who are in high school, community college and university.  Though not required, it will be helpful if this candidate is knowledgeable in several game design, development, DevOps or mixed media principles including storytelling, game theory, coding, project management, game design, design thinking, 3D modeling, animation and other creative subjects. The ability to learn is also a plus. 

PC: Services: 

  • Provide case management including college, career and personal advising to students ages 15-25. This includes reviewing class transcripts, assisting with college applications and financial aid, checking on students’ general well being, communicating with parents and providing access to resources when necessary.
  • Manage the creativity space. This includes classroom preparation, managing hardware and software, preparation, cleaning up and locking up the space
  • Provide teacher assistance services to core program classes.
  • Recruitment of prospective Gameheads students including communication, interviews and presentations in schools, churches, community centers, etc. 
  • Coordinate and communicate with organizational staff in Hawaii, Atlanta and Oakland.
  • Participate and prepare students for Gameheads events with an emphasis on Native Hawaiian youth ages 15-25.
  • Represent Gameheads at community events.

  • Set an example of best practices in professionalism, leadership, culture, creativity and diversity.
  • Work collaboratively with a high functioning group.
  • Maintain excellent attendance, work ethic, and high energy. 
  • Handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Support Native Hawaiian youth.
  • Have knowledge of and be sensitive to Native Hawaiian culture and values.
